Game Title Design

Image
I for one am struggling to come up with a good title design. I took inspiration from the game called "Wolf Among Us", which I think they have a very fantastic video game title design. I have consulted with my lecturers so they would give me a heads up of the font and typography design. I have decided to go for the Font type "Strange Tales" as it has the element of mystery and along with the cartoony look. The font has to be quite playful since the game is in a cartoon setting. I looking through the 80's and 90's era to look for a perfect font type and from there I will design the alignment for it to match my game. The font that I have decided to use is a retro-ish kind of type. It has the characteristic of the direction that i am going for.

Lighting Up The Crime Scene

Image
For the lighting in the game, I tried to stick to the references that I collected. It is quite crucial that I can get it right as the game atmosphere pretty much depend on the colour mood that I am going for. Trials and Errors Realising the atmosphere 3 lighting is used to create this scene. Scene is missing the highlight of the main focus. Adjusting the color and intensity to create the street lamp mood. The atmosphere of Neon Noir is there. Top View Outside view of the alley

Dead Pixel Origin and Art Direction Changes

Image
So where did the name came from? It was back in 1867 when- I'm just kidding, in year 2012, a team of 5 CG artists which consist of Fong Kheng Wai, Cheng Weng Kee, Malini Wan, Yap Jian Leng and me of course created an animated short film called "Death in D Minor"  Poster that we designed for our short film. Here's the story of the short film: "No one escapes Death, but Jones will sure as heck try. Living in honour of his dead war buddy, Jones will brush the dust off his boom-stick and go tango with Death itself." It was our final project that we did together back then and we are quite proud of it. Here is the link to the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZArjyYgTyU This animated short film is done for college final project by 5 students from The One Academy. As for the art direction, originally I am going for the outlined art style, much like the games point and click game developed by Telltale, but I have come to a problem wher...

Sketches and 3D Modeling

Image
Today I will be sketching out the items that would be placed/decorated on the crime scene. There will be 20 items that user can interact using the Vive controller.  20 Items Sketches ( May change in the future ) Game Studio Name As for the victim  and a few prop models, I used some assets that me and my team (Dead Pixel) created back when we were working on an animation short film, the team and I modeled a stylized old man and a few props that are suitable for the scene that I am creating. So I used our model and placed him into the world of VR. I took quite a bit of time to make it work as there are inverted meshes on all the models, I have to check on each side of the models to make sure that the meshes was not inverted or else the surface will have darkened areas and transparent/ see through issues. Besides that, some of the items I will need to remodel again due to some broken assets (It's been awhile since I open up the props that I modeled).  Ol...
