Dead Pixel Origin and Art Direction Changes
So where did the name came from? It was back in 1867 when- I'm just kidding, in year 2012, a team of 5 CG artists which consist of Fong Kheng Wai, Cheng Weng Kee, Malini Wan, Yap Jian Leng and me of course created an animated short film called "Death in D Minor"

Here's the story of the short film: "No one escapes Death, but Jones will sure as heck try. Living in honour of his dead war buddy, Jones will brush the dust off his boom-stick and go tango with Death itself." It was our final project that we did together back then and we are quite proud of it. Here is the link to the video:

As for the art direction, originally I am going for the outlined art style, much like the games point and click game developed by Telltale, but I have come to a problem where the toon shader does not perform as well as I thought it would. The toon shader provides me the outlined visual for any model that I create and unfortunately it doesn't look nice, not when it is in VR world, as not every angle of the toon shader looks good when the player is playing it, it looks cheap and immersion breaking since the player are walking around in the "Crime Scene".

Hence, with a little time to dwell on, I need to make a decision fast to get a new art direction which i hope would not change the feel completely, and I thought about my 2013 final project where all of us model the props and we also have a character which is fully rigged where I can give the victim a much more personality by posing it(even though he's dead) and giving him his last expression. I have already discussed with my team, and they are okay with it as they are even more excited to see the character in VR again.
One of the blog which I will be discussing about the 3D models where I need to deal with the meshes problem and also porting to Unity 3D.
