Game Cover Art & Poster

I took liberty of creating a game cover art, like what a real company would have it for a video game. and also creating a poster that I can display on my degree show. I have tried a few different focal length to get the best beauty shot of the game. Below are the final outcome for a poster and a game cover art.

Steam VR Tutorial and Toon Shader

Image
I've started to watch some tutorial videos on how to use SteamVR setup in Unity3D, and trying out the HTC Vive that I borrowed from my friend. The SteamVR is actually very user friendly, for now...and I've learn to set up the play area for my "Crime Scene" level. This is the tutorial that I have subscribed which offers some do's and don't's when making a VR game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LZTctk19sx8 I have tried creating a 3D previs so I would roughly know the spacing for my game. From here you can see that the two purple wall will serve as the alley walls and the box within it is the play area (User will be interacting with objects within that perimeter). This is the blocking scene for my crime scene, done in Maya 2017. This will be the test I did in Unity 3D to judge the spacing I needed fin real life. I still need to experiment more in order to get the accurate play area that I needed for the game, and at the same time I am ...

Dialogue Synchronization

Image
Due to some changes from the game dialogues and items in the crime scene, I discuss to my friend to see if he is able to record a few more lines for me in UK, where he's now working in. Even though that he is very busy, he is willing to help me out on this matter.  Once I got the voice clips from him, and filter out the best lines he recorded (he recorded 3 to 4 same lines so I am able to pick one out of it) I only realized that the previous dialogue and this new one does not match well. It became more clear when one use the headphones, the newly recorded ones has much more ambient noise and the voice has a much more higher tone.  I have no choice since I don't want to affect his work, so I used audacity to sync tweak the new dialogues, by removing noises and also adding bass and etc...I manage to get the new voices as close as the previous ones.  It is still slightly noticeable hat the new one had a different tone, but it's a lot better than what it originally i...

Environment Scale in Unity

Image
Unity Porting Problem Today I have experiment on the scale of my environment in VR by borrowing my frined's Vive and work on it as much as possible. I've learn quite a lot of the VR play area and how to port Unity file into Autodesk Maya back and forth so I can model the alley way. Using an asset from Unity, I was able to convert my model that I've made in Unity and port it into maya 2017 to get the right scale of it and start to model on top of it. In Unity 3D, I used the Scene OBJ Exporter to open the file in Autodesk Maya 2017. Setting up the crime scene in Maya before porting back to Unity 3D. I have also noted down the required play area for my crime scene and  will consult with my lecturer as soon as possible to make sure I have the space I needed in the exhibition area.
