Proposal For Three Different Ideas

Idea 1: Depression Awareness

For my first idea, I wanted to focus on the public service awareness (PSA) for depression. It was one of a common mental disorder and globally, more than 300 million people of all ages suffer from depression. Due to that, I wanted to create a game that raises the awareness of depression by using virtual reality and mystery solving. I will be using HTC Vive as the gameplay device for the audience.

Below are 2 different approach for the narratives:

Story 1: At the end, the detective is revealed to be the dying thought of the victim and hoping someone that can save him before he committed suicide.

Story 2: Real mugging happened, mugger is the metaphor of depression (taking his own life/ his way out). Detective is the metaphor of his cry for help (his will to live)

Idea 2: Virtual Reality Storytelling

As for my second idea, It is heavily relied on visual and sound to tell a personal story of a character’s life. Player will have an idea of what is going through a person’s mind when they are facing a near-death experience. It is a VR first person storytelling for gamers/young adults. I plan to make it because I wanted to  finish a completed version of “Echoes Of Life” game with VR features.

Idea 3: Sparky's Pastime

So for my last idea, it will be pure entertainment. Players will be controlling a dog in a first person view and causing as much mess as possible in a sandbox apartment. Points will be counted for each mess you made. Target audience will be teenagers, There are a few games that have the similar concept as mine.

Conclusion:

In the end, I chose the PSA as my project, but after consulting with lecturer, it is best to remove the public service awareness and focus more on gamification and IP. Also, I could incorporate with new technology, which is the VR itself and push my design.
